Multi-generational living

Located on a mountain ridge within Baabdat, a mountain town that has become easily accessible from Beirut due to the Metn Highway, this multi-generational home is designed as a yearlong residence for its owner and his family.

A monolithic volume

With a built area of just under 2,000 sqm, the scale of the residence is large. This is something we wanted to celebrate, and not try to dilute; and is reflected in the monolithic nature of the building with openings carefully placed to reflect the large scale of rooms they relate to. These few but large fenestration, along with a subtle crank within the plan, create a visible tension within the façade further celebrating openings that frame views out to the dramatic scenery.

A sophisticated and pure interior

The building is designed as a load bearing concrete shell, clad in saw cut local stone both externally and internally, freeing up the internal non load bearing partitions that evolve as needed in painted block-work or wood / brass cabinetry.
